Incoming President of the Old Melburnians Council

Jeremy Nichols

Jeremy Nichols’ (OM 1983, Ross) connection to Melbourne Grammar School spans three generations, starting with his father, John Nichols (OM 1944), now deceased, who was awarded a music scholarship to attend Melbourne Grammar School from 1942 – 1944. Jeremy began his Melbourne Grammar journey at Grimwade House in 1976, along with his three brothers Richard Nichols (OM 1968), Andrew Nichols (OM 1971) and Matthew Nichols (OM 1981). Jeremy’s own son Ned graduated in 2020.

Jeremy recalls being “instantly amazed” by the opportunities the School offered a 10-year-old boy. He embraced these opportunities fully, studying Chinese when it was first introduced to the School, travelling to China in 1981, and excelling in leadership and sport as Ross House Captain, Vice-Captain of Football and Cricket, Captain of Athletics, and Chairman of Goulburn Venturers.

After leaving Melbourne Grammar in 1983, Jeremy continued his passion for community and sport through the Old Melburnians Football Club, where he played from 1987–94, captaining the team to multiple premierships. Today, he brings that same spirit to the Old Melburnians Council, serving since 2019 most recently as Vice President.

Professionally, Jeremy is the Founder and Managing Director of Composure, a consultancy specialising in culture transformation and leadership development. With over 25 years advising Boards, CEOs, and executive teams, he is also the author of The Power of Culture and a former Melbourne Football Club Board member.

As incoming President, Jeremy’s vision is clear: “amplify, educate, and engage.” With 18,000 living Old Melburnians around the world, he aims to lift engagement and encourage every Old Melburnian to reach out and connect in whatever way that is relevant to them. “Our alumni community isn’t just about events and reunions – it’s about meaningful connections, professional links, and supporting one another through life’s changes,” he says. For Jeremy, giving back to a community that shaped his life is a driving force: “Engagement must be at the heart of our network.”

Jeremy was elected as the President of The Old Melburnians at the Annual General Meeting on Monday 17 November 2025.
