Melbourne Grammar receives a unique gift

Melbourne Grammar School is honoured to have been gifted a signed rowing suit by triple Olympian Jess Morrison OAM (OM 2010) which was worn during her races at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Jess, who took home a bronze medal in the Women’s Coxless Pair, adds this achievement to the gold medal she won in the Women’s Coxless Four at the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Jess presented the suit to Headmaster Philip Grutzner at a Grimwade House assembly in September 2024. “It is a joy to be back here as this is where my sporting journey started,” she said.
“I had amazing sporting opportunities throughout my time at Grimwade House.”

“When I was eight years old, I was lucky to go to the Sydney Olympic Games and see Cathy Freeman win a gold medal for Australia. That was the moment when I decided that I wanted to do that myself,” said Jess. “As a proud Old Melburnian, I hope that this suit will inspire all the students who see it to do sport.”

The suit is currently being framed and will eventually hang in a prominent position at Grimwade House, serving as a lasting source of inspiration for generations to come.
