Ben Nicholson was a British modernist painter who made abstract drawings and paintings that feature lots of squares, circles and rectangles. His cubist-like artworks dissect objects and shapes.
Year 3 students viewed and interpreted his works as part of a study of cubist style and modern art.
Selecting a couple of objects from around the home, students drew their objects in the middle of the page and broke up their drawing by adding variety of overlapping squares and rectangles.
Colour, shape and layout were integral components to their work, along with understanding how as part of cubist style they could view their work from different perspectives and angles.
The artwork in this exhibition was produced during a period of off-campus learning.
