Drawing with Mr Bonnici (Years 3 – 6)

Artists: Upper Primary students (Years 3 – 6)
Medium: Drawing

Our talented art technician, James Bonnici, produced a wonderful series of drawing tutorial videos as part of Grimwade House’s Visual Art online content during a period of off-campus learning.

The step-by step videos break down drawing tasks in easy to understand instructions.

We are very grateful to Mr Bonnici for his efforts with this initiative and for supporting students to feel that drawing can be an enriching experience.

The body of work across Grimwade House showcases how effectively and successfully students have interpreted Mr Bonnici’s directions. The feedback and joy experienced by students has been both rewarding and positive.

The artistic process

Here, student artist, Nathan, explains the thought and creative processes he used to develop his artwork.

“This image is of a Star Tiger. It ascended to the stars when it was demised in a fire. This Star Tiger had a round face, putting it aside from other tigers as the odd one out. Because of its horrible treatment back on earth, this tiger dedicated himself to helping lost animals in the stars find their place; and helping them rest in peace. The many stars and patterns on its face symbolises its place as one of the star animals. On its forehead, there are three stars each symbolising a different thing. Bravery, courage and integrity. It wonders the stars each day, without resting, to find lost souls of animals. I really enjoyed drawing this and hopefully we can do more lessons like this soon.”
