Food Substance Art

Artists: Year 1 students
Medium: Various

Year 1 students explored and responded to the abstract painting techniques by Australian artist Kerrie Warren. Her artwork titled Bush Dance features expressive and vivid painting dribbles and splashes and encompasses the heat and energy of a roaring fire.

Students were inspired to create their own fire artworks at home using products found in the kitchen. With some support by family members, students had access to sauces and liquids that can stain paper and serve as a paint substitute.

The artistic interpretation of fire in these examples highlights the fun in the art making process.

The artwork in this exhibition was produced during a period of off-campus learning.
