Georgio Morandi Still Life

Artists: Year 3 students, 2020
Medium: Drawing

Here, Year 3 students respond to a series of artworks by Georgio Morandi, an Italian painter and printmaker. His still-life works reference tonal subtlety in depicting simple subjects along with a stillness and calm in their arrangement and placement.

Students identified the key design elements and emotions felt within his work in class discussions. This collective of drawings encapsulates the energy and reflection of this engagement.

Delicately drawn lines, simple beautiful forms, softly coloured areas and careful arrangement and placement of their objects has translated into works that are elegant, considered and emotive.

The artwork in this exhibition was produced during a period of off-campus learning.
