Giuseppe Arcimboldo Portraits

Artists: Prep students, 2020
Medium: Collage

Prep students viewed portraits by Italian painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo. He is best known for creating imaginative portrait heads made entirely of objects such as fruits, vegetables, flowers, fish and books.

Students were encouraged to develop their own portraits using real fruits and vegetables or using the apps Pictoboldo and Snackerdoodle on their iPads. The portraits created demonstrated well-considered colours and shapes to best place facial features and the results hold considerable aesthetic and joyful appeal.

The artwork in this exhibition was produced during a period of off-campus learning.
