Roy Lichtenstein Pop Art

Artists: Year 4 students, 2020
Medium: Collage

Using an assortment of found papers, foils, magazines and materials, Year 4 students engaged in the processes and techniques of paper collage.

Inspired by Roy Lichtenstein’s Pop Art, they chose onomatopoeia words then selected colours and shapes to give emphasis to their chosen word. The students explored cutting, layering and arranging the coloured components of their works, in both 2D and 3D compositions.

The artwork in this exhibition was produced during a period of off-campus learning.

The artistic process

Here, two student artists explain the thought and creative processes they used to develop their artwork.

“I think this banana is regarded as pop art because of its bright colours and bold lines. The dots which would usually be tiny on a banana are big and bold.”

“I desired to draw a dog because I love animals and their cute pictures. I split my screen, on one side there was an image of a red dog and then on the other side autodesk sketchbook (drawing pad). I used air pen, pencil, fine liner and blending tools.”
