Artists: Year 5 students, 2020
Medium: Paper artwork
Through a series of paper art tasks, Year 5 students developed their understanding of the art elements of space and visual texture and the design principles of balance and pattern.
They created weaving drawings utilizing the techniques of hatching and tonal rendering. The students designed and formed original weaving templates, with focus on positive and negative space in their patterns.
They extended their knowledge of balanced positive and negative space within a composition through exploring the techniques of paper collage.
The artwork in this exhibition was produced during a period of off-campus learning.

The artistic process
Here, student artist, Zoe, explains the thought and creative processes she used to develop their artwork.
“I used a round brush to make opaque lines and I used a slightly textured brush to represent nature.”
