Congratulations to the Melbourne Grammar School students who proudly showcased their talent at national or international ball sport championships in the past year, representing their state and Australia with distinction.
Cricket
James Rosham (Year 12) represented Victoria Metro at the Cricket Australia Under-19 National Championships.
Louis Stevenson (Year 11) represented the Victorian Metro Under-17 team.
In July, James and Louis were also selected in the 2026–27 Victoria Metro Under-19 Male Emerging Players Squad. The squad brings together emerging players as they prepare for the upcoming Under-19 National Championships.
Will Markwell (Year 11) was selected in the Japan National Academy Men’s Under-19 Squad, continuing his development at an international level.
Hugo Thompson (Year 10) was selected in the Victoria Metro Under-17 Male Emerging Players Squad, recognising his potential among Victoria’s emerging young cricketers.
Football
Toby Hellessey (Year 12) played for Victoria Country in the 2026 Marsh AFL National Championships – U18 Boys. Toby was also selected for the 2026 Marsh AFL National Futures squad.
Louis Hooper (Year 10) played for Victoria Metro in the 2026 Marsh AFL National Development Championships – U16 Boys.
Charlie Sutton (Year 10) played for Victoria Country in the 2026 Marsh AFL National Development Championships – U16 Boys.
Hugo Ellims (Year 7) played in the Australian Football 12 Years and Under Boys team.
Futsal
Peter Sfyridis (Year 10) represented Victoria in the Under-15 Boys’ team at the 2026 Mitre National Futsal Championships on the Gold Coast in January. The selection marked Peter’s third consecutive year representing Victoria at the national level.
Golf
Bella Chen (Year 4) will play for the Vic Golf 12 Years and Under Team, representing School Sport Victoria at the School Sport Australia Championships.
Hockey
Owen Edwards (Year 6) was selected for the School Sport Victoria Under 12 Boys Hockey Team. Owen will play in the National Championships in Newcastle in October.
Rugby
Henry Napier (Year 8) was selected in the Under 14s Boys Victorian Squad, to play in the Emerging Reds Cup.
David Ofahengaue (Year 9) was selected in the Under 15s Boys Squad, to represent Victoria in the NSW Rugby Union Next Gen Cup.
Freddie Richards (Year 10) selected in the Super Under 16s Boys Squad, to represent Victoria in the Super Rugby Under 16s.
Eli Batty (Year 12) was part of the leadership team in the Victorian Under 17s Boys Squad, playing in the 2026 Buildcorp Australian Schools and Junior Rugby Union (ASJRU) Championships.
Tennis
Hayato Sata (Year 10) represented Victoria at the 2026 Pizzey Cup in April, competing as part of the state’s team at one of the major national school tennis competitions.
Touch
Cooper Taranto, Isaac Oldfield and Zander Nagy (all Year 11) represented the Victorian Storm Under-16 team at the National Youth Championships in Coffs Harbour in October 2025.
Cooper Taranto was also selected in the 2026 Under-20 Alliance Merit Team, which recognises some of the leading Touch players from Tasmania, the ACT, Northern Territory and Victoria.
Volleyball
Charlie Lanham (Year 11) and Harvey Lanham (Year 7) represented Victoria at the 2026 Australian Youth Beach Volleyball Championships. Charlie competed in the Victorian Under-18 team, while Harvey represented the Under-14 team and finished the Championships with a bronze medal.
